Again, I am amazed at the amount of information that I receive about this guitar. Just recently, I received an email with information on the Duke Ellington Concert in Karlskrona, Sweden on April 26, 1939.

I just saw your Fred Guy / Django Reinhardt Levin guitar that was up for sale. A really beautiful guitar btw. I have a photo and a review from a newspaper after Duke Ellingtons concert in Karlskrona, Sweden on April 26th 1939. You can see Fred Guy posing with his Levin guitar there. I know that the band left Haag on the 10th of April and arrived to Malmö, Sweden on the 11th of April. On the way to Malmö the train cart with the instruments and clothes got lost so they had to perform their first concerts on borrowed instruments. I don’t know if this at all led Fred Guy to buy a new guitar in Gothemburg, but it’s a fun story. I also have a copy of the program from the 1939 tour with the autographs. I’ll be glad to send (email) you pictures of this if you wish. I have owned a couple of beautiful Levins myself.
All the best / Niclas Höglind, Sweden
Here is the actual review from the newspaper in Sweden
The detail is not great, but you can see Fred Guy holding his new 1938 Levin Deluxe guitar…
The following are pictures from the actual “Program” from the concert. These are very cool, and the best part is that there are “autographs” from Duke Ellington, Fred Guy, and other band members.
You can see Fred Guy’s autograph next to his name below…
I am very grateful to Niclas Höglind of Sweden for allowing me to use all this awesome information on this website, thanks again!
